If there is one location in Rockhampton that you cannot miss, it’s Nurim Mount Archer.
At 604m above sea level, Nurim Mount Archer if the highest peak overlooking Rockhampton, so it’s probably pretty obvious that the views from the top are epic. Except they’re even better than you expect!
This is because an incredible elevated boardwalk has been constructed at the summit to deliver near uninterrupted views over Rockhampton and the surrounding area.
The Nurim Circuit Elevated Boardwalk is not your standard lookout. Instead it is 500m long, stroller and wheelchair friendly, and extends up to 25m outwards and 7.5m high.
It also curves around the mountainside, resulting in spectacular views in almost all directions.
Sitting alongside the Nurim Circuit is a beautiful amphitheatre, as well as a playground for the kids, making it a fantastic public space for tourists and locals alike.
Mount Archer is easily accessible, with a sealed road to the summit. Car parking is beside the amphitheatre, and there are toilets located between the playground and amphitheatre
We would recommend taking a picnic to enjoy on the grassy amphitheatre as you take in the view.
And make sure to head to the summit for either sunrise or sunset for a truly magical experience.
